More about the programme

This week it’s been all change on the Welsh railways.Β

Arriva Trains Wales is no more and a new operation – Transport for Wales - is running services on behalf of the Welsh Government.Β

Meanwhile a shake-up of the entire rail industry is on the cards after the UK Transport Secretary ordered a β€œroot and branch” review following a raft of recent problems.

Everyone agrees that the railways aren’t delivering enough for passengers and that the system needs mending.Β  But that’s where the consensus ends.

In this week’s Eye on Wales Stephen Fairclough looks to see what’s down the tracks for our trains and asks if there are lessons to be learnt from the way the railways are now run here in Wales.
