Factory Girls Sculpture Shelved

A planned sculpture to honour Derry's "Factory Girls" is shelved over spiralling costs. And a Strabane listener's car insurance isn't all she thought, across the border.

A planned sculpture to honour Derry's "Factory Girls" is shelved over spiralling costs. The Department for Communities says it "acknowledges that the decision not to proceed with the Factory Girl’s sculpture is disappointing. Given the passage of time, the cost of completing the project would now result in a total project cost of almost four times the original budget."

A Strabane listener is grateful she read the small print, after finding her car insurance wasn't all she thought, once she crossed the border.
