Celebrating European Languages Day at Markethill High School
John Toal with tales of family and community life, plus great recipes, craic and music. Text 81771 or email john.toal@bbc.co.uk
For European Languages Day John Toal chats to staff and pupils at Markethill High School as they celebrate with a special assembly. They have won numerous awards in the past for their modern languages provision and have pupils from countries as wide ranging as Bulgaria and Lithuania, who have made Markethill their home. There’s live music from Flamenco Belfast and the school’s modern languages choir and Paula McIntyre is in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Economics department showing students how to prepare baked spiced apples with Greek yoghurt and Spanish rosemary honey. John also talks to retired couple Derrick and Iris Matthews, originally from nearby Tandragee, who are now living the good life running a gite in the Loire Valley region in France.
