Food price inflation, Beer and brewing, Gorse replacing straw for bedding
Farming Today hears from an expert how food price inflation compares to other household expenses such as fuel and travel, and who is affected most by the cost of what we eat.
Since 2015 the price of food has risen by nearly 1.5% but in that time fuel prices have gone up by 15%, electricity has soared 16% and travel fares have leapt up by 20%. Sybil hears from an international expert why we worry more about food price inflation than other costs, and who is affected most by the increase in the price of what we eat. A brewing expert explains the growing popularity of craft beer at the beginning of a week in which Farming Today examines all things to do with beer and brewing. And some Welsh farmers are using gorse as a replacement for expensive straw as a bedding material for their animals.
