Uri Caine, Thomas Dausgaard, Catriona McDermid, Nicholas Collon, Tom Service

Sean Rafferty's guests include pianist/composer Uri Caine, conductor Thomas Dausgaard, bassoonist Catriona McDermid, conductor Nicholas Collon and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio presenter Tom Service.

Sean Rafferty presents a lively mix of music, conversation and arts news. Thomas Dausgaard is conducting the Swedish Chamber Orchestra in two Brandenburg Concertos Proms, which present a brand-new musical cycle of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos with six newly-commissioned companion works. One such commission is 'Hamsa' by Uri Caine, who plays live in the In Tune studio. Live music also comes from young bassoonist Catriona McDermid, who is performing at Lake District Summer Music International Festival as part of their 2018 focus on the bassoon. Ahead of their 'Inside Shostakovich' Prom, conductor Nicholas Collon and presenter Tom Service discuss turning Shostakovich's Ninth Symphony inside out.
