Isle of Arran

Episode 6 of 8

Calum Maclean shares his passion for swimming in remote, cold rivers and lochs. This episode sees Calum attempt to swim from Arran to the Holy Isle.

Anns a' phrògram-sa, chìthear Calum a' snàmh faisg air Eilean àlainn Arainn, far chost' an iar na h-Alba. Canaidh gu leòr gu bheil Arainn mar mheanbh-Alba le beanntan, glìnn, agus tràighean brèagha. Bidh Calum ag innse an toileachas a bhitheas e a faighinn a' snàmh anns a' mhuir tron gheamhradh. Chuir e dùbhlan roimhe fhèin agus chìthear ciamar a chaidh dha a' snamh gu Eilean MhoLaise, eilean a tha an-diugh le coimhearsnachd budach a tha ga chleachdadh mar àite tèarmain.

Calum swims off the shores of the Isle of Arran, known for its beautiful hills, glens and beaches. He discovers the joy of swimming in the sea during winter and sets himself a challenge of swimming across to the Holy Isle, used as a retreat by a Buddhist community.
