Alison Bechdel, Shiori Ito, How women campaign, Women on boards
Programme that offers a female perspective on the world.
The Hampton-Alexander Review looks set to announce steady progress to increase the number of women on boards and in senior leadership positions. But what is it about modern business culture that stops women advancing more rapidly? Management consultant, Melanie Eusebe and Rosamund Urwin, financial services correspondent at the Sunday Times discuss.
The results of our Woman's Hour poll conducted by ComRes revealed three in four women would be willing to take some form of action for a cause they believe in, but only one in four have done so in the past year. More were willing to take part in an online campaign than protest or march, while just three per cent said they would break the law. Jenni speaks to three activists working to create change. What motivates them and, how far would they go for a cause they believe in?
Japanese journalist, Shiori Ito, went public with rape allegations last year. It's something that's almost unheard of in a country with only one person in 100,000 reporting a rape. She explains why she's calling for change.
Alison Bechdel of 'Bechdel test' fame is a successful cartoonist whose graphic memoir, Fun Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ, has been turned into a Tony winning, Broadway musical. She talks about seeing her tale of coming out, with a father in the closet, on stage.
