St Michael's Church, Mottram in Longdendale
Church bells from St Michael's Church, Mottram in Longdendale.
Bells on Sunday comes from St Michael's Church in Mottram-in-Longdendale. Bell ringing was established in Mottram by the early 18th Century when the existing 5 bells were augmented to make a ring of 6. In 1909 the frame was found to be dangerously rotten and a complete renovation and recasting took place, resulting in today's ring of 8 with a 15 hundredweight tenor. Today Mottram has a band of 12 regular Sunday ringers. We hear them ringing a plain course of Grandsire Triples.
