Hamish Stuart from the Average White Band shares his 70s memories, including the moment when 'Pick Up The Pieces' topped the US Singles Chart.

Born in 1949 in Glasgow, he joined the Average White Band in 1972 and played with them for a decade, most notably writing the guitar line to 'Pick Up The Pieces' in 1974. Later, he would go on to work with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
