Courtney Pine and The Six Nations

Courtney Pine, the jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist picks the Tracks of My Years. Plus Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sport's commentator Andrew Cotter looks ahead to the Six Nations Championship.

Courtney Pine, the jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist picks the Tracks of My Years with songs from Roy Ayers and Earth, Wind & Fire. Courtney has been part of the British jazz scene for more than 30 years, his debut album 'Journey To The Urge Within' in 1987 was the first serious jazz album ever to make the British Top 40. Aside from being the pre-eminent figure in the resurgence of British jazz, Courtney became a renowned presenter and broadcaster, best known for his long running radio show for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2, 'Jazz Crusade'. He was also awarded an O.B.E in the 2000 New Year's Honours, and was also made a C.B.E in 2009 for services to Music.
His latest album, 'Black Notes From The Deep' is the 19th of his stellar career, features guest vocalist Omar and includes a fresh interpretation of Herbie Hancock's Butterfly. Omar's vocal performance rides on top of the backing vocals of Charleen Hamilton - and of course there is Courtney's flowing, imaginative and creative solo performance.
Andrew Cotter, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Six Nation's commentator also joins Ken to look ahead to the Rugby Union tournament which starts this weekend. He shares his insights on what makes the competition so popular and who he thinks has the edge to take home the trophy this year. Plus he also challenges Ken and Lynn Bowles to a quiz to find out who knows the most about their own home nation ahead of the opening game of Wales vs Scotland in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium.
Ken also has another round of PopMaster, the daily Love Song and the record and album of the week. If you want to contact the show, email - ken.bruce@bbc.co.uk.
