Yet his route to the top has not been without challenges. He joins Cathy to discuss the secret of his success and explain why he faces every day with limitless positivity.

Listener Carol Thompson heard our special Remembrance Sunday programme and it prompted her to contact us regarding her father's experience as a prisoner-of-war in Singapore in 1941. Clearing out his house after he died she found a box of old photographs, snapshots of a life that offer glimpses into her father's story. Carol and her brother Kevin Thompson join Cathy to talk about how their discovery has affected their own lives.

As Black Friday approaches, should we view this day as an economic opportunity or an indictment of our obsession with consumerism? Cathy discusses the issue with Alison Phipps, Professor of Languages and Intercultural Studies at the University of Glasgow and a member of the Iona Community and Graeme Maxton, Secretary General of sustainability think tank The Club Of Rome.

As Scottish Interfaith week comes to an end we hear the moving story of Edwin Shuker, an Iraqi Jew who remembers Baghdad before the mid-20th century when Muslims and Jews lived together in relative harmony. He is joined by Noorah Al-Gailani, curator of Islamic Civilisations at Glasgow Museums, who explores her own family roots in Iraq.

It's Prisoners Week across Scotland and Fergus MacNeill, Professor of Criminology and Sociology at the University of Glasgow, and Bruce Budge, Recoverist and playwright join Cathy to discuss how best to approach the subject of prisoner rehabilitation into society.
