Lionel Shriver - We Need to Talk About Kevin

4 Extra Debut. Author Lionel Shriver talks about her novel which provoked debates about the nature of evil. From July 2009.

Acclaimed American writer Lionel Shriver talks to Harriett Gilbert and a studio audience about his searing novel, We Need To Talk about Kevin.

The winner of the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2005 is a profoundly disturbing story of a boy who, shortly before his 16th birthday, kills seven classmates in a high school massacre.

Grippingly but unreliably narrated through the letters of his mother Eva to his absent father Franklin, the novel raises questions about culpability, the limits of maternal love and the nature of evil itself.

First broadcast on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ World Service in 2009.
