The focus is on autumn and winter produce in this episode. With the soft fruits of summer no longer available, Heather turns to the brambles and rowans growing in abundance. She makes rowan jelly - the ideal accompaniment to some Islay venison - and bakes a bramble roulade.

Towards the end of the year, Heather starts craving some fresh salad leaves. With the winter chill having killed off the last of her lettuce, she digs up the chicory root she has been nurturing in the garden and replants in a pot. The pot, kept in the warmth and darkness of her linen closet, soon produces chicons. She enjoys these precious leaves with her favourite seafood.
