Dawn French, Ricky Ross and Salman Rushdie
Janice Forsyth talks to Salman Rushdie about his new novel The Golden House, plus Ricky Ross on his new solo album and Dawn French on diaries.
Sir Salman Rushdie tells Janice about his new novel, The Golden House. Set in New York, it tells the story of a mysterious patriarch and his three sons, and has been described as Rushdie's Great American novel.
Dawn French's new book is called Me. You. A Diary. Published in the week she turns 60, she shares confidences with the reader, and encourages them to do the same.
Ricky Ross tells Janice about his new solo album and tour, Short Stories Vol 1, which features brand new songs, revisits well-known Deacon Blue tracks, and other less known songs from throughout his 30 year career in music.
Singer Joss Stone discusses going on tour with an orchestra for the first time.
Author Elizabeth Kostova first visited Bulgaria as a student in the late 1980s. It began a fascination with the country in which she met her husband, created a writers' foundation, and which forms the backdrop for her third novel The Shadow Land.
Every year, a group of singers from Scottish Opera go on tour with a suitcase of props and a minibus, visiting far flung venues around Scotland. Two of them perform live for Janice and talk about how the 2017 Opera Highlights tour is going so far.
Plus another chance to hear some of Janice's interview with Kazuo Ishiguro, who has just been announced as the winner of this year's Nobel Prize for Literature.
