Bert and Joe spar over past Flower and Produce Show glories on the way to see Oliver. They share with Oliver their experiences of being a widower. Oliver is unsure whether to move back to Ambridge. Joe invites Oliver to move in with the Grundys at Grange Farm. As soon as Oliver declines the offer, Joe is ready to leave... Afterwards, Bert tells off Joe for his shameless enquiry into whether Oliver would want to move to Grange Farm.

In front of Shula, Anisha challenges Alistair over his giving Brookfield "mates rates" - he comes clean about the near-miss with the pregnant cow. Alistair also claims his phone has been playing up, hence his absence when he was on-call, but now it seems to be working fine. Anisha asks Shula if anything has happened that could be causing Alistair's mysterious behaviour.

Oliver reports Joe's invitation to Shula. They both think how hilarious Caroline would have found it. She always had a soft spot for the Grundys. Oliver passes on a bracelet of Caroline's to Shula for her birthday. Shula returns home to a stressed Alistair - he won't reveal where he was last night. Shula gets upset and Alistair reacts harshly to Oliver's loss. She rings Kenton, worried that history is repeating itself.
