The words 'nurturing' and 'protective' don't immediately spring to mind when we think about dinosaurs. Certain action films would have us believe that 'rampaging' and 'ferocious' would be more apt descriptions of their nature. But a new exhibition at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff suggests that these ancient creatures did indeed have a softer side.

This week on Science CafΓ©, Adam Walton gets to tour the Dinosaur Babies exhibition with curator and palaeontologist Cindy Howells. She describes the remarkable circumstances in which some very rare dinosaur eggs and embryos were uncovered.Β  Fearsome they may have been, but dinosaurs and their young faced some very real challenges.
