Tunisian holidays; Missing valuables; Social media shopping
The British tourists flouting a travel ban for the sake of a cheap holiday in Tunisia. Plus an investigation into thousands of valuables stored in banks with untraceable owners.
The number of British tourists visiting Tunisia this year has increased despite the UK government advising nobody should travel there. Flights to resorts in the north African country have been banned since 2015 - however You & Yours has seen figures that show British holiday makers are starting to return.
A You & Yours investigation into bank Safety Deposit Boxes has found that there are thousands of valuable items sitting inside branches, with untraceable owners. Recently, most of the high street banks have stopped offering safety deposit services. But sources at three of the major banks - Lloyds, RBS and Barclays - say branches have been running disorganised storage systems.
Plus online shopping can be a solitary task compared with a day out spending in town with friends. But social media is starting to change that, with online shops setting up groups on Facebook, where like-minded customers chat about purchases, share photos and videos and ask for advice. Some members say the community feel and honest reviews they get lead them to spending more money.
