Springwatch Episode 7

The latest news from our wildlife cameras. High up on Salisbury cathedral, an orphaned peregrine chick is fostered onto the pair that our cameras have been following by the RSPB.

Live from their base in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan share the latest news from our wildlife cameras up and down the country.

High up on Salisbury cathedral, a remarkable story is developing. An orphaned peregrine chick is fostered onto the pair that our cameras have been following by the RSPB - doubling the young inhabitants of the nest, and providing amazing images of the first feed for this vulnerable chick, as it gets to know its new family.

In Sherborne we check in with the precarious blackcap nest, see how the buzzards and barn owls are getting on and Gillian Burke is out searching for insects in the field margins.

Martin Hughes-Games has decamped to Pitlochry in Perthshire, on the track of the pine marten family that we have been following all week. Lucy Cooke has a film about how a mobile phone can be used to connect us to the natural world, and Chris Packham goes in search of snipe - trying to record the remarkable 'drumming' sound made by their wings in display flights, and then recreating it in a simple experiment - much to his rapture.
