Track 4 - Bette Davis
Made for 4 Extra. 'Bette and Joan and Baby Jane', a drama by Tracy-Ann Oberman about the making of the landmark film. Tracy-Ann also discusses Bette Davis.
For Track 4 we find out more about Bette Davis. Mostly hidden behind George Harrison on the album cover, we discover what had happened to Ms Davis by the 60's, and just why she might have been chosen for the cover.
The actor and writer Tracy Ann Oberman tells us why she is such a big fan of Bette Davis, and exactly why she decided to write about her. She also offers some insights in to which Beatle she thinks put Bette Davis on the cover.
Then we have 'Bette and Joan and Baby-Jane', Tracy Ann's first radio play which tells the story of a legendary film, the creation of two iconic stars and of the origins of a deep seated hatred that spanned five decades. It stars Catherine Tate as Bette Davis and Tracy Ann Oberman as Joan Crawford.
Then Samira Ahmed talks to the artists, and co-creator of the Sgt. Pepper album cover, Jann Haworth. She tells Samira how her own Hollywood back round influenced the artwork, what she and Peter Blake each brought to the project, and exactly which of the famous faces she left looking like Donald Trump.
