The Black Panther Party in the USA was well-known as the armed militant side of the civil rights struggle. But fewer people know that there was also a Black Panther movement here in the UK in the late 60s and early 70s. It’s the subject of a new TV drama called Guerrilla and will start on Sky this week. John Ridley is writer of the TV series Guerrilla. He’s best known for winning an Oscar for writing ‘12 Years a Slave’. Farrukh Dhondy was a member of the British Black Panther movement.
