America's Pro-Trump Farmers, Glyphosate, German Biofuels and Farm Education
Trump supporters in America's Mid-West reveal why they back the President. The pros and cons of glyphosate. How Germany leads the way in bio-fuels. Cornwall's Farm & Country Days.
The corn and beef farmers of Nebraska voted overwhelming for Donald Trump in the presidential election. That's despite his tough stance on international trade and immigration, both issues at the heart of agri-business in the Mid-West. The prairie cattle ranchers and wheat-growers have been explaining why they gave Trump their backing.
Producing bio-fuel crops is a relatively new diversification in the UK, but in Germany government policies on transport and fuel emissions have pushed it high up the agricultural agenda. The country is now seen as leading the way in bio-fuel use.
The row over the controversial herbicide, glyphosate, looks set to intensify. It's the world's most widely used weed killer but by the end of the year the European Commission will decide if it will renew its licence in the EU. In Lincolnshire two farmers, one in favour of glyphosate and the other opposed, have been airing their views.
The Easter holidays mean great business for farm parks and country shows but in Cornwall school children have been doing more than cuddling bunnies. They've been learning the finer points of British food and farming as the county showground at Wadebridge welcomed 1,500 youngsters to its annual Farm and Country Days.
