The Information Commissioner's Office has told You & Yours it's going to look into insurance companies that are trying to get hold of people's full medical records. The privacy regulator says insurers could be in breach of the law if they ask for more information than they need to process insurance claims.
More black cats and dogs are handed in to animal charities for re-homing than pets of any other colour. And the charities find it's harder to find them new homes for them. The black pets stay in the animal rescues longer than the rest. Our reporter visited Cheshire Dogs Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in Warrington and an RSPCA rescue centre for cats.
A single mother is taking a letting agent to court, claiming that they indirectly discriminated against her by refusing to rent to her a property because she claims housing benefit. Turning someone down for a tenancy because they're on housing benefit isn't unlawful but Rosie Keogh is arguing that it disproportionately disadvantages single mothers who are the biggest claimants. It is an untested area of law. The Royal Institute Chartered Surveyors has found that people on benefits are being excluded from many private rentals.
