Jurassic Heritage
Adam Walton visits Aberystwyth to preview the Jurassic Heritage exhibition at the University's Old College, in conjunction with National Museum Wales - which opens on 14th February.
A whole raft of events are being held around the exhibition from virtual reality tours to walks along the promenade.
Adam meets Dr Bill Perkins on the promenade and hears how visitors will be able to take a stroll through millions of years of history, putting the timeline into context.
We hear from Dr Caroline Buttler at the National Museum Wales, about the Archaeopteryx and its crucial place in the history of dinosaurs.
Adam talks to Professor Richard Hinchliffe about how the Archaeopteryx, despite having feathers and the apparent ability to glide or fly, may not be the ancestor of modern birds, and how scientists are still trying to piece together the picture from the few fossils that have been found.
We hear from Dr Ian Scott about the plant life that was aounnd during the Jurassic period, and what part it played in the food chain of dinosaurs.
Finally, Adam tries out a virtual reality headset which gives him a taster of a workshop that will introduce children and families to a Jurassic landscape, complete with a dinosaur rollercoaster ride.
