This week, legendary folk singer and song collector Shirley Collins talks about her new album, Lodestar.
Lodestar is Collins' first release in over 30 years, and is a collection of English, American and Cajun songs dating from the 16th Century to the 1950s. It was recorded at her home in Lewes by Stephen Thrower and Ossian Brown of electronic act Cyclobe, and produced Ian Kearey, formerly of Oysterband.
Collins was a significant contributor to the English Folk Revival of the 1960s and 1970s. She was awarded a prestigious Gold Badge by the English Folk Dance and Song Society and the MBE for services to music in 2007, and given a Good Tradition Award at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2008.
She will be touring the UK in early 2017.
