Bruce MacGregor talks to Inge Thomson about writing music for Fair Isle.
Accordionist, singer and composer Inge Thomson comes from Fair Isle, which sits between Shetland and Orkney and is the remotest inhabited island in the UK. The recent ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ tv series 'Fair Isle - Island on the Edge' follows the lives of some of the 55 islanders and features music composed by Inge. She tells Bruce about the musical tradition associated with Fair Isle and shares some of her experimental work gathering underwater sounds using a hydrophone.
