Black Is a Dirty Word

Seani B explores the realities of life growing up and living in the UK as a young black man or women.

In December 2015 1Xtra presenter Seani B cancelled his New Year's Eve booking at a Bournemouth club after they were accused of turning away black customers.

For Seani it was this incident, and a seemingly growing numbers of cases like it, that motivated him to make this documentary.

In the programme, Seani explore the realities of life growing up and living in the UK as a black man or women.

Featuring singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka talking about his track 'Black Man In A White World'; and Major Lazer's Walshy Fire on the respect afforded or ignored by the wider industry for the black music scene.

Seani also looks into the issues faced by black women in the recruitment market, some even having to change their names to 'fit in'; and finds out why the Police feel their relationship with the young black community is better than ever.
