Food labels and Alastair Humphreys

Gillian Russell asks if combining health, diet and exercise information would make food labels more useful, plus adventurer Alastair Humphreys talks about walking across Spain.

If a food label told you how far you'd need to walk, swim or cycle in order to burn off that particular food would it be useful? The Royal Society Of Public Health (RSPH) is calling for clearer food labelling - combining health, diet and exercise information - which could help us make better choices about what we buy, cook and eat. Shirley Cramer, Chief Executive of the RSPH tells Gillian Russell about some of the options they're exploring including "activity equivalent labelling".

Nutritionist Scott Baptie offers ideas and advice on how we can best navigate the supermarket aisles and understand the information on food labels in terms of our own specific needs.

Adventurer Alastair Humphreys shares his experiences of walking across northern Spain, following in Laurie Lee's footsteps by busking for money in order to eat. How did he survive with no tent, no cooker, no credit cards and no social media? What did he learn about himself and the world?

Would more female coaches encourage more women into sport/fitness? Louise Andrew from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Get Inspired team meets tennis coach Judy Murray at a training event in Edinburgh, aimed at increasing female tennis coaches and ultimately encouraging more girls to play sport.
