Charlotte Smith visits Rothamsted Research, the world's oldest agricultural research station, to hear about the latest developments in Agritech and the farm gadgets of the future.
Charlotte Smith visits Rothamsted Research in Hertfordshire, the UK's oldest agricultural research centre, to hear about the latest developments in Agritech, some of which may become the must-have farm gadgets of the future.
She's joined by local arable farmer Ian Pigott who casts his eye over drones and soil-humidity meters, as they hear about how Big Data is being used in agriculture, and also how farmers are being alerted when there are peaks in fungal spores that could threaten their crops.
From Strathclyde University, we hear about a spin-off from space research, with a soil analyser that was invented for use on Mars.
Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Mark Smalley.
