Sebastian Barry; Margaret Atwood and Naomi Alderman; Helen Dunmore on Louis MacNeice; literary news from Sri Lanka
News and features from the world of books, presented by Mariella Frostrup. Sebastian Barry on his new novel Days Without End.
As part of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's #lovetoread season Open Book explores writing across the generations: in 2012 award winning novelist Margaret Atwood agreed to mentor relative newcomer, Naomi Alderman. Over the last four years they've developed a close and fruitful friendship. As Naomi publishes the book she wrote during this time - The Power - they talk to Open Book about how they work, and write, and travel together.
Also on the programme Sebastian Barry discusses Days Without End, his harrowing account of an Irishman fighting in the nineteenth century American Wars, Anuk Arudpragasam sends literary news from northern Sri Lanka and Helen Dunmore reveals the book she'd never lend.
