Wales Dessert
Creative culinary competition. It is the dessert course and one chef will go home. There is upset for one chef when a last-minute error threatens his Eton mess.
In this year's Great British Menu, the chefs are competing to cook at the ultimate banquet held at the Palace of Westminster. In the year of the Queen's 90th birthday, the chefs are celebrating the everyday great Britons who have been honoured for their extraordinary achievements. The challenge is to create dishes that are a fitting legacy to the modern Elizabethan age, creating food that represents the complete transformation in British cuisine during the Queen's reign.
This week in the Welsh heat, newcomer Andrew Birch is challenging two returning chefs, Adam Bannister and Phil Carmichael.
It is the dessert course and one chef will go home. Phil Carmichael is determined it won't be him but not everything is going to plan when he tackles his 'Cup of Tea for Ma'am'. One of the accompaniments to his earl grey panna cotta just won't work and he has to make a difficult decision. And there is upset for another chef when a last-minute error threatens his highly stylised Eton mess, served in a meringue ball.
