The land-based and environmental industries employ around 1.3 million people in the UK according to the Sector Skills Council Lantra. But the average age of farmers is in the mid-fifties so there's an urgent need to recruit more young people into the industry. We hear about apprenticeships, university and college places, and a new web-based college established to help fill the skills gaps in the land-based sector.
