The Wildlife Trusts in the UK are calling on the Government to step up its work on an alternative vaccine for cattle to combat bovine TB, rather than pressing ahead with a cull of badgers. The disease costs the UK around 拢100m a year in slaughtered cattle. Some believe badgers spread it, and a pilot cull has been carried out in some areas for the past three years. It's being rolled out to five new areas this year and could begin within days.

Sally Challoner has been out harvesting bracken in Somerset, where a new company is turning it into fuel for open fires and wood burners. Bracken is an invasive species that is also carcinogenic to some animals; it is also difficult to harvest because it mainly grows on hillsides.

And Johanna Smith meets a Cheddar cheese maker who's taking the traditional craft into the 21st Century with a robotic cheese turner.
