Sholay at 41
In this one-hour special, actors Dharmendra and Amitabh talk fondly about their memories of Sholay, and director Ramesh Sippy explains how this landmark movie came to be.
Asian Network Presents marks the 41st birthday of one of Indian cinema's most iconic movies, 'Sholay' by replaying it's 40th anniversary special from 2015.
Released in 1975, the movie starred super-hunk Dharmendra and up-and-coming actor Amitabh Bachchan and opened to luke-warm reviews. However, favourable word-of-mouth publicity helped the movie to become a hit. With memorable characters including the truly terrifying outlaw, Gabbar Singh, quotable dialogues and an iconic soundtrack, 'Sholay' has become the finest example of a masala movie.
In this one-hour special, actors Dharmendra and Amitabh talk fondly about their memories of the film and director Ramesh Sippy tells how this legendary movie came to be.
