Before Phoebe finds out her A-Level results, Jennifer gives her a present - a bracelet that she got on her 16th birthday. Brian joins them and they discover Phoebe has three As and an A*. Jennifer reminds Brian they are hosting a family dinner to celebrate Alice's new job and Phoebe's results. Brian tells Jenny that Alice was trying to sell aerial imaging systems to Adam in the pub last night. He might suggest she talks to Justin about what her company has to offer.

Carol comments to Jill on Jennifer's excitement over Phoebe's results. Carol thinks back to Anna's A-Levels and now sees it was just the beginning to Anna's commitment to working hard. She tells Jill that Anna and her ex, Max, are meeting up tonight. Carol can't remember when she last saw Anna so excited.

Josh's A Level results are better than expected but despite getting two Bs and a C he doesn't want to go to university. David can't understand why Josh would turn down his place at Felpersham University. Jill tells David to think about how he talks to Josh, he needs to tread carefully. Later on, David apologises to his son and Josh tells him that he has arranged to defer his university place and spend a year farming at Brookfield. David says he's proud of him and asks for a hug.
