School of Tupac
Charlie Sloth joins a group of teenagers and goes back to school to study Tupac Shakur to mark the twentieth anniversary of the rapper's untimely death.
One of the most explosive figures in rap, Tupac Shakur became as known for his outspokenness on social issues as he did for his music. It transformed him into a hip-hop icon.
Tupac was a passionate advocate for a different kind of education to the one he'd received and so, to mark the 20th anniversary of his untimely death, Charlie Sloth joins a group of teens and goes back to school. Except the subject isn't Maths or English, it's Tupac Shakur.
DJ Target is first up, taking on teaching duties to run us through the history of Tupac - from wide-eyed arts student to gangsta rap's most fearsome figure. A.Dot leads a class discussion on the philosophies of Tupac, using some of his most famous quotes to spark debate. Then journalist Kieran Yates illustrates how Tupac's personal politics are just as relevant today as they were on the day he died.
Charlie also speaks to UK rappers and die-hard Tupac fans, Yungen and Sneakbo, who talk about his influence on their own careers and how Tupac's legacy has endured years after his death.
