It wasn't the rout people were expecting in England's councils. But Labour鈥檚 lost seats in the Welsh Assembly, leaving them short of a majority and they've slumped into third place in the Scottish Parliament. 麻豆约拍鈥檚 political correspondent Ross Hawkins reports.

Temperatures are forecast to hit 26C in some areas of the UK this weekend 鈥 but with the good weather come warnings over air pollution. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have said that large areas of the country will affected by moderate levels of air pollution over the weekend (normal is 鈥榣ow鈥), with high levels possible in some areas. The U-turn on academies by Education Secretary Nicki Morgan has provoked mixed reaction from the profession. While unions and backbenchers have been appeased some successful academy chains are furious that the government has 鈥渂ottled it鈥. The former Republican presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush, has said he will not vote for Donald Trump in the US election in November. Mr Bush said Mr Trump did not have the temperament or strength of character to be president.听 On Thursday the Republican Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, said he could not yet support the billionaire. We鈥檝e been speaking to Frank Lunz, Republican pollster.

Labour's Sadiq Khan will oversee a 17 billion pound annual budget and will also become Europe's most powerful Muslim politician. London has a new Mayor, who has just won the biggest ever personal mandate in UK political history. That鈥檚 going to be a bit of a headache for the Prime Minister and the Conservatives, who have just spent the past month linking him to extremists and using suggestive language to try to turn a range of London鈥檚 religious and ethnic communities against him. But they鈥檒l now have to work with him on some pretty important issues 鈥 promoting the City, fighting terrorism, getting Londoners to vote their way in the EU referendum. 听Speaking live on the programme is secretary of state for defence, Michael Fallon.

On Thursday morning's programme we spoke about new screening for Down鈥檚 syndrome, which is expected to result in fewer miscarriages than the current invasive test, but ultimately more terminations as more expectant mother will decide to have the new, less risky test to identify if their baby has Downs. What鈥檚 it like living with Down鈥檚 syndrome? And how does the debate about screening and termination look from the perspective of someone with Downs?
