Bruce MacGregor celebrates the folk music of Canada. He talks to Roddy Campbell from Canadian folk magazine Penguin Eggs, plus he has session tracks from the East Pointers.
Bruce MacGregor brings a special programme celebrating the folk music of Canada. Canada is a massive country not only geographically but culturally. This cultural diversity breeds a very lively folk and roots scene. From the fiddle tradition of Cape Breton - where the Scottish influences are still very much in evidence - to the thriving multicultural cities of Toronto and Vancouver. Plus of course the French Canadian music of Quebec. And not forgetting all the regions in between!
Bruce gets the inside track from Roddy Campbell of Penguin Eggs Folk and Roots Magazine in Canada with music selections from bands making people's ears prick up across the water. Plus a session with the East Pointers of Prince Edward Island recorded during their recent visit to Scotland. And some of our favourite new and older Canadian music we've enjoyed playing on Travelling Folk over the years.
