Life and Death Row
Radio 1 looks at the story of Daniel Lopez, a convicted killer who resisted appeals to block his execution, and talks to his lawyers, parents and Lopez himself.
Based on an episode from the new, second series of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three's Life and Death Row, Greg James looks at the story of Daniel Lopez, convicted of killing a policeman during a high speed chase in Texas in 2009.
Unusually for a Death Row prisoner, Daniel resisted all appeals to block his execution. With access to Daniel Lopez himself, his lawyers, his parents, as well as the widow of the police officer Daniel killed, we follow the lead up to 'execution day'.
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three series Life and Death Row tells the story of capital punishment through the eyes of young people whose lives have been shaped by it. The film this programme is based on, The Execution, will be available from Tuesday 16th February, the day Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Three launches online at bbc.co.uk/bbcthree.
