Stories

Floods

John Craven visits Kendal in Cumbria to see how people are rebuilding their lives after the devastating winter floods in December. He meets members ofΒ Sandylands Methodist Church who have been helping with rescues and clean up work.Β Β

We also hear from Sarah and Dave Benjamin who were out helping others in the community whilst their home was flooded. Jane and David Robinson are also volunteering their services as they deliver food donated by Romneys local pub to those in need.

Reuben Hill

In August 2015 Reuben Hill made international news headlines when he was the first person in the UK to have a brain tumour removed with surgery using pioneering laser technology. Doctors at Charing Cross Hospital used a special laser probe and an electronic β€œknife” that enabled them to differentiate between the tumour and healthy brain tissue as they operated.

The operation was filmed by a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ News team and during the surgery Reuben was awake and asked to sing so doctors could confirm that his brain was functioning correctly – his song choice was the popular worship song 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman and video footage of him singing went viral across the world.

David Grant caught up with Reuben to hear how the experience had strengthened his faith and to deliver a surprise invitation from Matt Redman to see him performing live and to meet him backstage.
