Ricky Ross talks to North Carolina singer and musician Rhiannon Giddens about her debut solo album and love of old-time music ahead of her Celtic Connections show.

Rhiannon Giddens is the lead singer & musician with Carolina Chocolate Drops. Her debut solo album was produced by T Bone Burnett and one of the highlights of last year. Ahead of her Celtic Connections shows, she talks to Ricky about her love of old-time songs, sharing a fascinating guide through the history of American music. Her influences include Odetta, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Plus Ricky previews some new music for 2016 including Lucinda Williams, Aoife O'Donovan and the world exclusive first play of the forthcoming release by Teddy Thompson.
