Sir Ranulph Fiennes braves six flights of stairs to join Simon in the studio and discuss his book Heat.
Sir Ranulph Fiennes talks to Simon about his book 'Heat'. Well known to many for his exploits in traversing and surviving everything the polar regions can throw at him in his bestselling book Cold, overlooked are the many feats he has undertaken in some of the hottest places on Earth - whether through military service in elite army units, or when embarking on explorations as part of a larger, civilian-led global adventure. In April 2015, Fiennes became the oldest Briton to compete in and finish the Marathon des Sables, arguably the toughest endurance race on the planet, crossing 156 miles (251 kilometres) of gruelling terrain over six days, in the blistering fifty-degree heat of the Saharan Desert.
There's also another daft listener Confession for the panel to mull over and the latest travel, sport and business updates.
