It's a long way from the Falls Road, via Limerick and the Philippines, to the D-day landings and the liberation of Belsen. That was the journey taken by Belfast-born Father Dan Cummings. A few years before he died, he wrote his life story. This has now been transcribed and published by his niece, Rosemary Doherty.

Bryan Stevenson founded the Equal Justice Initiative to represent the poor, the defenceless and the wrongly accused in the United States justice system. One of his first cases was an African-American sentenced to death for a murder he swore he didn't commit. The case led Bryan Stevenson to confront the police, prosecutors and judges.

Edith Cavell died 100 years ago, tomorrow - 12th October, 1915. She is commemorated on that date by the Church of England of which she was a devout member. Catherine Butcher is the author of a new biography which places Edith Cavell's faith firmly at the centre of her life and actions.

And, appropriately perhaps, the premiere on Thursday night was invaded by demonstrators campaigning against cuts in domestic violence services. The film stars Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne-Marie Duff. The director is Sarah Gavron.
