Barra Beach
In a special programme Dougie and Sarah explore the Outer Hebrides islands of Barra, Eriskay, South and North Uist. Sarah arrives in the islands on a plane which lands on Barra Beach.
Cockling
The beach, which is used as an airport several times a day also happens to be one of the most productive Cockle beaches in the islands. Donald Maclean, who runs a shellfish company on the island, gives Sarah a lesson in Cockling.

John Mahar is the former drummer with punk-rock band, The Buzzcocks. He moved to the Western Isles a number of years ago and became fascinated with taking photographs of abandoned croft houses. His photographs are now being used in an exhibition called βThe Leaving ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔβ project.
Eriskay Ponies
Sarah travels by ferry from Barra to Eriskay to find out about the plight of the islands increasingly rare native ponies.
