The 163rd British Open Brass Band Championships

Frank Renton presents music and conversation from the 163rd British Open Brass Band Championships as Black Dyke play to keep the crown.

The British Open Brass Championships was established in 1853 making it the oldest brass band contest in the world. Reigning Open, British and European Champions Black Dyke join a rosta of our finest bands including Brighouse and Rastrick, Grimethorpe, Cory and Foden's as they try to keep the title. Everyone will be play 'Reflections on Swan Lake' by Stephen Roberts which re-imagines the music of Tchaikovsky's famous ballet and Frank Renton is in Symphony Hall Birmingham to record music and conversation throughout the day.
