Sholay at 40
Asian Network Presents celebrates the fortieth anniversary of iconic Indian film Sholay, which starred Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan.
Asian Network Presents celebrates the 40th birthday of one of Indian cinema's most iconic movies, 'Sholay'.
Released in 1975, the movie starred super-hunk Dharmendra and up-and-coming actor Amitabh Bachchan and opened to luke-warm reviews. However, favourable word-of-mouth publiscity helped the movie to become a hit. With memorable characters including the truly terrifying outlaw, Gabbar Singh, quotable dialogues and an iconic soundtrack, 'Sholay' has become the finest example of a masala movie.
In this one-hour special, actors Dharmendra and Amitabh talk fondly about their memories of the film and director Ramesh Sippy tells how this legendary movie came to be.
