Oscar Pistorius' Release Due

This week Oscar Pistorius is set to be released from jail, after serving ten months for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkemp. The athlete was found guilty of culpable homicide, but prosecutors in South Africa have filed papers calling for him to be convicted of murder. Reeva Steenkamp was a law graduate and a model, and would have turned 32 this Wednesday. With women’s groups fighting the decision for him to be freed, how is the rest of the country reacting to his parole? Jane speaks to Â鶹ԼÅÄ Correspondent Karen Allen and Jacqui Mofokeng from the African National Congress Women’s League.

What’s It Really Like Being A Teacher?

Surveys have suggested that the teaching profession faces difficulties in recruitment and the retention of staff. Jane talks to three listeners who got in touch to tell us their experiences of teaching. They reveal the truth about shaping the young minds of the future.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Miriam Elia

Artist discusses her book We Go To The Gallery, a strictly for adults satirical parody of the classic children’s picture books. Miriam talks about making art funny, creating the book with her brother and the impact of her own childhood trips to galleries.

The commercial edition of We Go To The Gallery by M and E Elia is available from 21st September. An artists edition of the book is out now.

Family Spaces

Whether you rent or are lucky enough to be a homeowner, the houses we live in play a massive part in family life. So how do we make our space work for us? If you have a spare room, how do you decide who gets to use it? Or is the idea of private spaces a luxury in modern day living?

Jane discusses with interior stylist Twig Hutchinson, who lives in London with her husband and three young children, and author Julia Crouch, who shares a house in Brighton with her husband and has three older children, two of whom have left home.
