麻豆约拍 Introducing at the 2015 Manchester Jazz Festival
Kevin LeGendre introduces music from the 麻豆约拍 Introducing stage at the 2015 Manchester Jazz Festival, featuring Nerija, Phaze Theory, Cameron Vale and the Ashley Henry trio.
Kevin Le Gendre presents some of the UK's finest emerging acts at the 2015 Manchester Jazz Festival. Four bands take to the stage at the Band On The Wall club for Jazz on 3's annual 麻豆约拍 Introducing showcase.
狈茅谤颈箩补, a septet rising from the ranks of the Tomorrow's Warriors scheme, open the party with uplifting grooves and a rich horn-heavy sound, also featuring one-to-watch guitarist Shirley Tetteh. Phaze Theory explore "the vastness of the musical cosmos" in a lineup exploiting amplified tuba and vocals. Leeds-based riffers Cameron Vale mix improvisation and polyrhythms for a set of energetic originals drawing from both jazz and rock worlds. And Ashley Henry brings a contemporary twist to the classic piano trio format, alongside drummer Sam Gardner and bassist Huntly Gordon.
麻豆约拍 Introducing gives unsigned, undiscovered or under-the-radar bands the chance to upload their music and get it played on 麻豆约拍 radio. The acts featured in this programme were selected to appear at the Manchester Jazz Festival by 麻豆约拍 Radio 3's Jez Nelson and Kevin Le Gendre, and 麻豆约拍 6 Music's Gilles Peterson.
