The 麻豆约拍 Radio 2 Prom: The Story of Swing- Join Clare Teal at the Royal Albert Hall aided and abetted by the Big Bands of Guy Barker and Winston Rollins for the Story of Swing.

Following last year's Battle of the Bands Clare returns with a Prom charting the history of swing. The Royal Albert Hall stage is filled by two renowned Big Bands compiled of the UK's finest musicians.

Swing music originated in the 1920s and the great Swing era lasted from the dark days of the Depression through to the end of the Second World War.

One of the earliest influences was bandleader Fletcher Henderson who had none other than Coleman Hawkins and Louis Armstrong in his band. This programme features arrangements by Henderson as well as Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charlie Barnet, Woody Herman and the man they called the King of Swing - Benny Goodman. The running order is brim full of the greatest swing hits including Trumpet Blues and Cantabile, Opus 1, Skyliner, Why Don't You Do Right, In the Mood, One O'clock jump, Flying 麻豆约拍 and expect some Royal Albert Hall audience participation in Minnie the Moocher!

Joining Clare is jazz vocalists Jamie Davis, Elaine Delmar and star of The Wire and Partners in Crime - Clarke Peters.
