In Christopher Reid’s new collection ‘The Curiosities’ (Faber), every poem is inspired by a noun beginning with the letter C. Christopher explains why he wanted the book to have ‘cacophony of voices’, and the importance of the musicality of his first lines.

Campaigner and Journalist Caroline Criado-Perez’s first book is ‘Do It Like A Woman’ (Granta), a global celebration of strong women. Caroline discusses of ‘Landai’ Pashto poetry, short, anonymous verse often shared orally in a culture where it is dangerous for women to write.

The academic Matt Lodder studies the history of Western tattooing. Using examples including Moby Dick, Matt shows how the tattooed body has always been read as a text, and examines the sometimes complex relationship between the body and the artist.

The artist Gemma Parker has been collecting people’s stories of love and regret – and tattoos. These stories have gone into ‘The Tattooed Lady’, an artwork currently on display as part of ‘The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things’, a group exhibition at the recently opened ‘Â鶹ԼÅÄ’ arts centre in Manchester.

Liz Kessler’s latest book is ‘Read Me Like A  Book’ (Orion). Liz explains how changes in Young Adult publishing have led to the book being published 15 years after it was written. She also  tells us how she updated the book to reflect changes in language and  culture in order to keep it authentic and contemporary.
