Masood tries to get through to Shirley. Can he convince her to do what he thinks is right? Carol opens up to Whitney about her feelings.

Jane tries to reassure Masood that he’s done the right by thing by handing Shirley Jade’s address, but Masood is not so sure. Buster tries to take in the news that Jade is alive and urges Shirley not to tell Dean – concerned that he’ll be a mess. Shirley states that she doesn’t want history to repeat itself – she kept it from Dean who his real dad was for years. However, seeing Dean content that things are going well for a change, Shirley keeps quiet. Masood corners Shirley and questions whether she’s been to see Jade – Shirley admits she hasn’t. Masood invites Shirley back to his, explaining that he’s only come to her because he has no other choice.

Masood purports that if he goes and gets Jade himself, then he will lose Shabnam – but Shirley is Jade’s family and that has to be better than what Jade has now. When Shirley exclaims that she needs time to think, Masood presents her with his picture of Jade, before commanding her to go and get her granddaughter. In the Vic, when Shirley receives a text from Masood suggesting that maybe this time she can get things right, she immediately ups and leaves. Shirley crosses Linda and asks after Ollie – Linda tells her to stay away; he’s nothing to do with Shirley. Shirley turns up outside Jade’s foster home and pauses outside the house. Shirley nervously knocks on the door and is greeted by Jade’s foster father. Shirley barges in and introduces herself to the girl from the photo as her grandmother, but is left shocked when a girl wearing an oxygen mask appears, stating that she’s Jade...

Stacey sees Kush in the cafΓ© who consoles her that he’s sorted things with Shabnam – convincing her that she didn’t see what she thought she saw. Stacey suggests that after this lunch time’s practice, they should stay out of each other’s way. Stacey finds Shabnam in the Minute Mart and apologises, but Shabnam is adamant that it was her being stupid; Kush explained everything. Stacey admits that she knows that Shabnam has had a falling out with Masood, but Shabnam immediately asks her to drop it. Stacey watches on bitterly as Shabnam and Kush flirt on the stall next to hers. When Stacey suggests that maybe the lads should practice the routine without her from now on, Shabnam interjects – she’s counting on Stacey to make Kush look good.

A downtrodden Stacey accosts Sonia and invites her for a lunchtime drink, claiming she’s in the mood to get drunk. When Kush and Martin arrive at the Vic too, Stacey assures Kush that she doesn’t have a problem with him being there; they’re just mates having a drink. Sonia clocks Stacey staring in Martin’s direction and jumps to conclusions. As Stacey gets drunk, Kush watches on as she flirts with Martin. Kush corners Stacey and suggests she slow down, but she remains cold. Sonia suggests to Stacey that she needs to find a man and asks whether she has her eye on anyone, but Stacey claims it’s too complicated. After Sonia suggests that if Stacey has feelings for someone then she should just come clean, Stacey heads to find Kush, but is left disappointed when he finds him loved up with Shabnam.

In the Butchers’, as Liam and Tina bicker, Carol loses it and berates the pair for being petty. Whitney watches on, concerned. Whitney finds Carol alone and questions what’s really wrong – Carol hands Whitney her breast reconstruction letter. Whitney tries to help Carol see the positive side; it’s only a review, with the option of reconstruction. Carol admits that receiving the letter has sent her back to how she felt a year ago; scared and angry. When Whitney tries to reassure Carol that she’s not alone, Carol mopes that that’s exactly how she feels. Later, Whitney summons Liam and Tina for a talk. Whitney firmly tells the pair that it’s unfair that Carol has been doing everything on her own – from now on, they split the chores and contribute to housekeeping.

On the Masala Masood stall, Roxy makes mistakes and begs to keep her job when Masood hints that maybe it isn’t for her; Masood reluctantly agrees. When Masood arrives back on the stall from his chat with Shirley he tells Roxy that he can’t justify paying anyone, but is thwarted when she presents a wad of cash from her money belt; she’s exploited the lunch time rush. Roxy returns home to Ronnie and Charlie with an abundance of leftover food from the stall, before proudly announcing that Masood wants her to stay on. In her bedroom, Ronnie watches Charlie and Roxy’s conversation on her iPad, and hears Roxy profess that she’s not really planning on leaving.
